Hill Country vineyards, live oaks, and legendary barbecue
About
Living in Driftwood
Driftwood is an unincorporated community southwest of Austin, perched in the scenic Hill Country between Buda and Dripping Springs. The area is famous for Salt Lick BBQ, an Austin-area institution, and has become a hub for Hill Country wineries, breweries, and event venues.
Driftwood's appeal lies in its combination of Hill Country beauty, culinary culture, and proximity to Austin — downtown is just 25 minutes away. Properties here tend to be on larger lots with mature live oaks, offering a rural feel with urban access that is hard to replicate.
Why Driftwood?
- Home of legendary Salt Lick BBQ
- Hill Country wineries and event venues
- 25 minutes to downtown Austin
- Large lots with mature live oaks and Hill Country views

Angie's Guide to Driftwood
Driftwood is one of my favorite areas to show clients because it delivers that Hill Country dream without the long drive. You are 25 minutes from downtown Austin but you feel like you are in wine country. The catch is that inventory is limited and properties move fast — there is not a lot of Driftwood to go around, and everyone seems to want a piece of it.
